The Addition and Subtraction Strip Board is a foundational Montessori mathematical material designed for children aged 3 to 7 years, in order to help them transition from concrete counting to abstract arithmetic.

It features a double-sided board—addition on one side and subtraction on the other—to help children visualize number combinations and internalize basic math facts. It contains a wooden baseboard marked with a grid of 12 squares high and 18 squares wide. The numbers 1 through 18 are printed across the top as a reference for the results. Addition Strips: Two sets of nine wooden strips numbered 1–9. Blue strips are typically used for the first addend, and red strips (subdivided into units) for the second. Subtraction Strips: Includes 17–18 natural unnumbered wood strips used to cover the portion of the board not in use, plus sets of red and blue strips to represent the subtrahend and minuend.
